Formal Warning

by Bemi (Founder Mor Music Group)

Checkout my interview with the amazing band - Formal Warning. They are the only local act confirmed to perform at the Leicester Music Festival (without going through the Play at LMF auditions).

1. When and how did the band come together?

Formal Warning started as a band in late 2009, with two different families that merged together to form a band which had been brought up listening to the same music, living very much the same lifestyle.

2. Could you give a brief introduction of the band members and their role in the band?

The band members are Kyle Harrold (lead guitar/vocals),  Leon Harrold (bass guitar/vocals),  Ash Wright (lead vocals), Alun Wright (rythm guitar) and Zoe Wright (drums). Two families = one band

3. Formal warning is great band name. How did you come up with the name?

Well when we were teenagers, we all used to hang around the streets playing football, being loud etc. you know as teenagers do. One day we received a complaint which had caused the police to visit us whilst out on the streets. They then said to us if you don’t get off the streets and do something constructive they are going to have to give us a FORMAL WARNING, which is what we used to make the band and also use that name for our band (we were pretty young at the time).

4. How would you describe your genre of music?

We have been described by newspapers quite a few different types (of genres) such as Indie Rock, Alternative Rock, Pop/Indie rock, but we think you could put it all down to an Indie/rock with a poppy vibe to it.

5. On being the only local act selected to perform at the Leicester Music Festival (without going through the Play at LMF auditions process) - how did that come about?

Well the actual owners of the festival saw us play live at one of our gigs as our name has been doing very well in our home town (Leicester) so we guess
they had heard the hype and came down to see us. They then messaged us asking us to perform at the festival alongside all the major acts (Professor Green, Labrinth, The Saturdays, Union J and other big acts).

We were delighted to give them the biggest YES we could give and all the thanks for the support with it. They have been amazing to us and its a million percent appreciated by not only the band, but also the families of the members

6. What other major gigs do you have coming up (besides Leicester Music Festival)?

Well we have a few big gigs yet to be set in stone, but we are not yet able to announce so until then get down to our headline show at THE 02 ACADEMY LEICESTER SATURDAY 29TH MARCH.
But keep your eyes out on our Facebook and Twitter as its updated every single day about all our gigs and music.  All our gigs will be announced via those sites.

7. Do you have any new music coming out soon (single/EP/album)?

Yes our brand new E.P WEEKEND VIBES is released on the 29th of March on Itunes, spotify and all the rest but you can hear our single FRIDAY NIGHT TRIP here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQYd2EBo8rU

8. Do you have any message for your fans out there?

Yes of course we would like to say a MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE thank you to all the people who have ever been to any of our gigs. Your support is truly appreciated and we can’t wait to see you all at the next ones as they will be getting bigger from now on. Don’t be afraid to dream

PEACE
FW
