Recharge Audio

By Laura a.k.a Miss Vengeance

This week I took some time out with Leon Bailey, and asked him some questions about his job, his role with Mor Music Group, and what the futures holds. Here's what he had to say:

1) What is your job at 'Recharge Audio'?

Recharge Audio is my audio services business and I work as an audio engineer.

2) What sort of roles does your job include?

My job can be really varied (one of my favourite things about it!) but the main things I’m doing for clients at the moment are mastering and music production.

3) What made you want to work with Mor Music Group? How did you get in touch with Mor Music Group founder Bemi?

We both did the Enterprise Inc. programme and Bemi got in touch after I posted my website on the Enterprise Inc. Facebook group page. It’s always nice to work with other creative people in the East Midlands and Bemi seemed really cool when we spoke on the phone.

4) How are you finding your job? Was it something you've always wanted to do?

Challenging! There’s always something different to do every week and I get to work with some really talented people as well which is great. My first love in music is DJing + electronic music production - I produce D&B at the moment with two friends under the name Chromatic. I’m going to be doing more of that this year, but I also love engineering for my clients and get great satisfaction from a job well done.

5) How long have you been doing this job? Are you enjoying it?

I’ve been doing audio engineering for about three years now and producing music + DJing for about twelve years – really enjoy it and am learning more & more every single day.

6) Where do you want to be in 5 years time, would you ever consider working overseas?

Hopefully in five years, I’ll be lounging on a hot sunny beach somewhere! In all seriousness though I hope to be well established, working hard and having fun – would love to work overseas at some point for sure.

7) Have you worked with anyone famous or anyone we have heard of?
Most of my clients are underground artists and labels, but I have remixed tracks by DJ Fresh and MC Spyda for Chromatic as well as being booked to DJ at raves alongside people such as Sub Focus, Skream, Rudimental and Andy C.

8) What does the future hold for Leon Bailey?

Hopefully good things and more memorable times!

9) How are you finding working with Mor Music Group?

Good so far – very professional people! Looking forward to mastering some stuff for Mor Music Group over the next few months.

10) Have you any advice for guys and girls out there who are interested in this type of job?

Make the most of any opportunities you are offered, as you might not get the chance again. Also, make a big effort to get to know like-minded people locally. Not only will you make some good contacts, but you’ll also meet some really interesting people!

Formal Warning

by Bemi (Founder Mor Music Group)

Checkout my interview with the amazing band - Formal Warning. They are the only local act confirmed to perform at the Leicester Music Festival (without going through the Play at LMF auditions).

1. When and how did the band come together?

Formal Warning started as a band in late 2009, with two different families that merged together to form a band which had been brought up listening to the same music, living very much the same lifestyle.

2. Could you give a brief introduction of the band members and their role in the band?

The band members are Kyle Harrold (lead guitar/vocals),  Leon Harrold (bass guitar/vocals),  Ash Wright (lead vocals), Alun Wright (rythm guitar) and Zoe Wright (drums). Two families = one band

3. Formal warning is great band name. How did you come up with the name?

Well when we were teenagers, we all used to hang around the streets playing football, being loud etc. you know as teenagers do. One day we received a complaint which had caused the police to visit us whilst out on the streets. They then said to us if you don’t get off the streets and do something constructive they are going to have to give us a FORMAL WARNING, which is what we used to make the band and also use that name for our band (we were pretty young at the time).

4. How would you describe your genre of music?

We have been described by newspapers quite a few different types (of genres) such as Indie Rock, Alternative Rock, Pop/Indie rock, but we think you could put it all down to an Indie/rock with a poppy vibe to it.

5. On being the only local act selected to perform at the Leicester Music Festival (without going through the Play at LMF auditions process) - how did that come about?

Well the actual owners of the festival saw us play live at one of our gigs as our name has been doing very well in our home town (Leicester) so we guess
they had heard the hype and came down to see us. They then messaged us asking us to perform at the festival alongside all the major acts (Professor Green, Labrinth, The Saturdays, Union J and other big acts).

We were delighted to give them the biggest YES we could give and all the thanks for the support with it. They have been amazing to us and its a million percent appreciated by not only the band, but also the families of the members

6. What other major gigs do you have coming up (besides Leicester Music Festival)?

Well we have a few big gigs yet to be set in stone, but we are not yet able to announce so until then get down to our headline show at THE 02 ACADEMY LEICESTER SATURDAY 29TH MARCH.
But keep your eyes out on our Facebook and Twitter as its updated every single day about all our gigs and music.  All our gigs will be announced via those sites.

7. Do you have any new music coming out soon (single/EP/album)?

Yes our brand new E.P WEEKEND VIBES is released on the 29th of March on Itunes, spotify and all the rest but you can hear our single FRIDAY NIGHT TRIP here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQYd2EBo8rU

8. Do you have any message for your fans out there?

Yes of course we would like to say a MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE thank you to all the people who have ever been to any of our gigs. Your support is truly appreciated and we can’t wait to see you all at the next ones as they will be getting bigger from now on. Don’t be afraid to dream

PEACE
FW

Laura interviews founder of Kareena- ann photography

I recently interviewed photographer Kareena. Here’s what she has to say:

Thanks for taking time out for this, I really appreciate it.......

What made you want to be a photographer?
I started out studying media studies at GCSE level. For a project we had to design a magazine cover and 4 pages of content. I decided to do a fashion and makeup magazine, so I photographed a friend wearing a variety of clothes and used different wallpapers around her house as backgrounds. My teacher then told me that I put a lot of thought into the images and that I had a creative spark. I then moved onto A-level media and found myself reaching for my digital camera for almost every project we were set. So I then took the advice of another teacher who spotted my photographic talent and studied A-level photography where I gained ‘A’ grades. Then there was no going back because I had found my passion.

How are you finding photography, is it what you expected it to be?
It is everything and more than I had expected it to be, those 5 years ago when I started it at college. I enjoy it more and more each time I do a photo shoot or event.

What was it like working with Matt R on his photo shoot?
Me and Matt R had been planning a photo shoot for a long time so it was good to finally get round to working with him. He knew exactly what style and outcome he wanted for the shoot, but he welcomed my own creative input. It’s so nice to see him doing well in the music business and also to see him using my images online.

Have you photographed anyone famous or anyone who we might have heard of?
Unfortunately I have not photographed anyone famous…yet! My dream celebrities I would love to photograph are Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

What camera equipment do you use for your shoots?
I own a Canon DSLR, canon flash and various lenses. When in the studio I use a variety of lights.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
I would love to be doing freelance photography work full-time, hopefully owning a business/studio.

Do you enjoy your work, if so why do you enjoy it?
I always enjoy photography, no matter what the subject is. I love being creative, putting things together such as outfits and the makeup to then finally take the photos. I have always got something creative going on in my head, even watching TV, I will spot someone’s quirky outfit for example and instantly think of a photo shoot I want to put together.

What’s the best part of photography for you?
There are two best parts for me, the first one being, documenting memories for other people, so for example maternity photos or weddings. Secondly, I love working on fashion style shoots, pulling all elements of art together e.g. clothes, makeup, hair, modelling and putting them into one piece of work that will capture people's eye and imagination.

What type of photography work do you do? How many other types of photography work are out there?
There are endless amounts of types of photography out there. You name it; someone is probably taking a photo of it. Everywhere you go there are photos.

I started out mainly photographing models for fashion/editorial style projects at university, but then I got more into standard portraits including maternity and toddlers. I then did my first christening in 2012 and my first wedding in 2013. And recently in January 2014 I did my first product photo shoot, which was for a local dog sitting company who make their own blankets, and collar/neckerchiefs for pets.

What advice would you give to young aspiring photographers out there?
Simple, don’t give up. I struggled in my first year at university because I was set projects that I didn’t like and couldn’t get my head around all the advance technical things. But I realised I just needed to keep photographing things and people, doing what I love and the rest would come along with it. I was always worrying that everyone was better than me, but here I am with a photography degree at 23 years old.
