Checkout our video interview with Elisabeth Barker-Carley, and a detailed feature below:

By Bemi (Founder Mor Music Group)

I first spoke to Elisabeth Barker-Carley in January of this year (2014), and my first impression – she is beautiful inside and out. Elisabeth is the lady behind Play at LMF – an audition process for local acts to perform alongside big acts including Labrinth, Tinie Tempah, Professor Green, The Saturdays, Union J, UB40, Kool and the Gang, Soul II Soul, Billy Ocean, Leicester’s own X Factor 2013 winner Sam Bailey, and other big acts.

Elisabeth owns and runs Dreaming In Colour Productions. This entails managing bands, tours, hosting events, as well as occasionally booking tours for bands.Currently she wears many hats including PLAY at LMF, The Jitterbug (Leicester's only electro swing night), Roulette (a new multi genre night at Pi Bar every first Wednesday of the month) and managing Midnight Wire. She is also on the Oxjam Leicester team.

Elisabeth is one of the people putting Leicester on the music industry map, along with other people on the Leicester music scene including the presenters at BBC Radio Leicester and Kevin Gaughan of Takeover Radio Leicester (they are credited with featuring up and coming artists on radio shows). You can read more about Kevin on our previous blog feature (click here).

Play at LMF received tonnes of applications from up and coming UK artists; and Elisabeth had to shortlist the applicants to 120. The next step was a free voting process to select 50 acts for the live heat performance. Currently, the live heats are taking place in Leicester every week until the first week in May (you can view the heats information on Play at LMF Facebook link below). 10 acts will be selected (from the heat) to perform at the semi-finals on May 30 and 31st.

The finals of Play at LMF will be held on June 13th. Two local acts will support the big acts performing at the Leicester Music Festival, along with first local band already confirmed to perform - Formal Warning (you can read more about Formal Warning in our previous blog feature click here).

I am rooting for Elisabeth, and the organisers of Leicester Music Festival, as they have worked so hard to make this successful. We invite all music lovers across the UK, Europe, and the world to come on down to Leicester,UK - come support the Leicester Music Festival and Leicester’s music industry.Leicester Music Festival will be held on July 25 and 26, 2014. Ticket sales information is available on the official festival website (see link below).
